Budgam, Nov 3: Srinagar Lok Sabha MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Monday announced his resignation from the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and his parliamentary seat during a public gathering at Behisht-e-Zehra Park in Budgam.
Ruhullah made the announcement on the 26th death anniversary of his father, addressing a large gathering and citing unfulfilled public commitments and an alleged reversal of the party’s stand on key political promises.

He accused the JKNC leadership of backtracking on commitments related to the restoration of Article 370, protection of constitutional rights and the release of political prisoners.
Ruhullah also criticised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, alleging that the party had shifted its political position and softened its stance towards the Centre.
Ruling out speculation about joining any existing regional party, Ruhullah hinted at the possibility of launching a new political movement alongside what he described as “honest and dedicated people.”
