Against the possibility of  vote deduction and discrepancies in the voter list in the name of SIR (Special Intensive Revision), the Delhi Congress is fully prepared to prevent any kind of malpractice—Devender Yadav

NEW DELHI, September 14, 2026—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that against the apprehension of possible vote cuts and discrepancies in the electoral rolls in the name of SIR (Special Intensive Revision), the Delhi Congress has started extensive preparations to prevent any kind of malpractice. In this sequence, a special training workshop was organized for BLA-1 volunteers under the leadership of AICC Delhi In-charge Shri Kazi Nizamuddin and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Shri Devender Yadav.

The workshop was organized by Shri Rajesh Garg, Chairman, Booth Management Committee, at  the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee office in which BLA-1 comrades from all the Legislative Assemblies of Delhi were given detailed and practical training on various aspects, including how to help the people of Delhi during the Claims and Objections phase of the SIR process.

Organization General Secretary of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, former MLA Mr. Anil Bhardwaj, General Secretary Mr. Gauri Shankar Sharma, Chairman of Legal and Human Rights Department Advocate Sunil Kumar also participated in this program.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Qazi  Nizamuddin, in-charge of Delhi, said that he has fought a long battle to protect the rights of the voters during the SIR in Uttarakhand. Sharing his experiences, he told the BLA-1 comrades that if a resolution is taken that the vote of any legitimate citizen will not be deleted, then no rule can deprive a citizen of his franchise. He clarified that the basic basis for inclusion of names in the electoral roll is to be an Indian citizen. He said that  whether a person has a permanent address or is homeless does not affect his franchise. He also said that in the present circumstances, there is anxiety among the people and they are protecting their rights by standing in long queues, so it was the responsibility of the Congress workers to stand with the public.

Addressing the BLA-1 comrades, Shri Devender Yadav said that the Congress party will ensure that the votes of Dalits, minorities, poor living in resettlement colonies and all legitimate voters are not cut under any circumstances in the name of the SIR process. He said that the Congress workers are  alert and committed at every level to protect democracy and franchise of the citizens.

He further said that the Congress party will strongly raise the issue of deletion of a large number of names in some booths of Chandni Chowk Assembly. He said that the issues of those who have been rendered homeless in the recent past will also be taken up on a priority basis. The Congress party will also knock the doors of the court if needed. He said that during this time, the workers will go door-to-door to ensure that the names of all eligible voters are preserved in the voter list. Also, the Delhi Congress will set up voter assistance centres in slum clusters, RWA offices, village chaupals and major markets during the campaign.

Advocate Sunil Kumar, Chairman, Legal Department, Delhi Congress, elaborated on the legal aspects of the SIR process and provided necessary guidance to the workers. He explained the legal process especially in matters related to responding to notices, logical discrepancies and anomalies.

The main objective of this training was to make the voters aware of their rights and to understand the process of re-addition if for any reason their names are deleted from the electoral rolls.
