CM Omar Abdullah Approves Stipend Hike for MBBS, BDS Interns in J&K

Srinagar, Oct 20: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has approved a major hike in the stipend for MBBS and BDS interns, increasing it from ₹12,300 to ₹25,000 per month.
The Chief Minister has directed the Health Department to issue the formal order immediately.
The decision comes after MBBS and BDS interns across Jammu and Kashmir launched protests and announced an indefinite strike, demanding action on the long-pending stipend enhancement.
The interns had earlier been given a written assurance that the matter would be finalised within 30 days, but the order was not issued within the promised timeframe, prompting the students to intensify their agitation.
The latest approval is expected to bring relief to hundreds of medical and dental interns across the Union Territory.
